Amy Ballinger, art director for Teradata Magazine asked for an interesting Environmental Portrait of Bobby Ghoshal of Freescale Semiconductor.

Ok, so I've been a working photographer shooting jobs for a lot of years at this point. In 2007 I started reading David Hobby's Strobist blog and decided to give this Strobist thing a try. I had a discussion with another photographer friend about this and it went something like this... Friend: "Yeah but, we've been using battery powered strobes for years." ... Me: "I know, but what's different now is the internet has allowed photographers to share information so quickly, the flickr group is like a magazine that changes every minute"... Up till this point in my career, I've been so in love with my Dynalites that I didn't really think about using battery powered flash units much beyond PR, Photojournalism, events, etc... Well, not any more. Many thanks to David Hobby for changing the way I think about these amazing little speed lights... it's like freedom.

Strobist info / Lighting:
Main Light: Nikon SB-26 shot through 45" white umbrella to camera left.
Edge Light: Nikon SB-800 back about 15 feet from subject, and to camera left.
Wall light: The Sun
Location: outside, about 112 degrees and high humidity, in open shade... (it was hot out is really what I'm saying)

Digital capture: Nikon D70
shooting tethered to MacBook Pro laptop
Nikon 17-55mm at 35mm setting, 1/200th @ f/8
