Caroline Sheen, Photo Editor for Air & Space Smithsonian Magazine called and asked for an environmental portrait of Trey Brandt for an article titled "All That Remains... old aircraft crash scenes that are littered with story fragments." written by Howard James Stansfield.

We spent the day hiking up to the top of Arizona's Gray Mountain near Flagstaff, shooting a variety of shots of Trey and several friends involved in aircraft wreck chasing. You can see my truck in the shot (it's the tiny white dot under Trey's left arm)... I could have easily removed it in about 2 seconds in Photoshop, but it's nice to see how far we had to climb.

While we were on the mountain, Trey found an old and very weathered, Kodak film canister (double-eight movie cassette), which contained film from a camera aboard the KC-97G plane wreck that crashed into the mountain in 1957. After further investigation, we shipped it off to Greg Miller at Film Rescue International be processed. Some images were actually visible, though not fantastic quality after nearly 50 years of being out in the elements, though it was pretty exciting wondering if anything would be visible.
