Carlee Cardwell Kate Bellanca, Photo Editor for Forbes wanted an environmental portrait of Carlee Cardwell, owner of Get Juiced, for an article titled "Algae Frappe, anyone?" written by Damon Darlin and Josephine Lee. The juice bar in Phoenix sells "smoothies" made from stuff like bee pollen, wheat grass, ginseng and spirulinga algae... Carlee and her staff were really nice, helping us put together this fun shot showing some of the ingreedients they use to make the healthy juice drinks. We shot this during the lunch rush, so there were a lot of customers there when we shot the portrait. I used a slow shutter speed (about 1/4 sec.) and had people walking through the background to show some motion & activity Nikon 20-35mm lens with an 81B filter "Aloe vera juice isn't just for shampoo anymore." |
