Karen Piper, Cushman & Wakefield, holding hands and running with a bronze statue

Karen Piper
Cushman & Wakefield / Property Manager of The Dial Building
Phoenix, AZ ~ 9:51 AM on 9.11.1993

A fun environmental portrait of Karen Piper, Cushman & Wakefield, and Property Manager of The Dial Building, shot for Arizona Business Magazine.

When I scouted the property of the Dial building, I saw this statue (which I believe is called "The Puddle Jumpers") and thought it would be cool to have Karen holding hands with the kids, and running like she is a part of it.

One interesting challenge came during the shoot... the sun was reflecting off of the Dial Tower, creating "A Second Sun" so I had to set up some additional gobos to keep both suns off of the subject.

Lighting: Yes, of course... 4 Dynalite strobes
Main light: Medium Chimera, camera right
Additional strobes: 10" reflectors w/diffusion, 1/4 cto and black wrap Cinefoil

Hasselblad 50mm lens with an 81B filter
Exposure: 1/250 sec @ f/16
Film: Fuji RDP 100
Photoshop: minimal.
